Dr. Valerie Kelly is a Doctor of Optometry and our Chief Optometrist. She has a special interest in complex contact lens fittings. She examines patients of all ages providing routine eye exams, urgent care visits and contact lens fittings.
Dr. Kelly received her undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta and her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, the American Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association’s Contact Lens and Cornea Section.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteering. Locally she has volunteered at the Humane Society and for the Special Olympics as both a track coach and later as a vision screener at the Boston and NH Summer Games. Further from home she has donated her eye care services to underserved communities in Mexico, Costa Rica, and most recently Jamaica in 2011 (with the Great Shape Jamaica program).
Some patients experience difficulty wearing contact lenses and may have been told in the past that they are not a good candidate for contact lens wear. Certain eye conditions including keratoconus, astigmatism, dry eyes, post-refractive surgery such as LASIK or presbyopia can make contact lens wear more challenging. Dr. Kelly specializes in and welcomes hard to fit contact lens patients.
